Why we sell organic spices
There are many good reasons to sell organic spices, but here's a big one: Organic spices taste better.
When we first started sampling spices, we noticed that organic spices were more flavorful than conventional spices. We knew organic spices had to be grown without potentially harmful pesticides and fertilizers but that didn't account for all the flavor difference.
To earn an organic label, a spice has to be pure, with no anti-caking agents, twigs, extraneous leaves, or other "foreign matter." That's not true for conventional spices.
We also like the values that organic certification represents. If you trace your food back to its source, you get a sense of what it really means to be good global citizens and conscientious stewards of environmental resources. We believe that organic crops are better for our health and the health of our kids and their kids and so on. We also like that organic crops are safer for farm workers to handle and easier on the land.
That’s why we sell organic seasonings and why we favor products that support sustainable and healthier farming practices. We proudly display our organic certification because we want to assure our customers that our products are high quality, full of flavor, and free of the additives or fillers that are often found in spices. And we figure that, just maybe, if other food makers see the organic sticker they may decide to go our route as well.
By buying organic, each of us is taking an important step toward ensuring that the food we choose for ourselves and our families is as healthy as possible. And when you’re buying healthier products for your family, it’s nice to know you’re helping support farm families, too.
So… if you’re making a better salad, why not help make a better Earth while you’re at it. It’s all part of spice enlightenment. |
